The Wizard
    The Judging Criteria will be as follows:

  • Entries will be divided by Grade Cluster and evaluated by a panel of judges. The panel of judges will be comprised of independent educators, energy professionals, selected experts and NEF staff members.

  • Grade Clusters include; K-5, 6-8, and 9-12. One winner will be selected for each grade cluster.

  • Judging criteria will be based on a point system. A total of 50 points will be awarded, as follows:

    1. Entry represents original and creative work -
      15 POINT VALUE

    2. Entry demonstrates theme, by illustrating wise energy choices and environmental stewardship -
      20 POINT VALUE

    3. Completion of written explanation (limit one page) -
      15 POINT VALUE

      This explanation should include:
    • What motivated you to enter this challenge?
    • What actions and ideas you hope for your entry to convey?
    • What is the impact of your project in your own life or in the lives of others?

The Grand Prize winner in each Grade Cluster will be the entry to receive the highest number of points. Criteria for publication will also be based on points awarded, with representation from each grade cluster proportionate to entries submitted. In case of any ties, judges will reevaluate and choose final winners based upon the judging criteria. If, for any reason, a prize winner is unable to participate in the award trip, an alternate winner may be designated and selected on the same basis.

All judging decisions will be final.
