Braydon Elliott
Utah

Braydon composed and sang a song entitled “Flip the Light” that was about being an “energizing, motivating flip-the-light kind of guy." He also designed a supporting poster display featuring energy saving ideas along with the lyrics to his song.

"I was excited to enter this contest because I think there are a lot of small changes we can make in our lives that would make a big difference in how we use and conserve energy," Elliott wrote in the one-page essay he submitted with his song.

Tabitha Head
Texas

An issue of a magazine named “Watt’s Up” was written and produced by Tabitha. It is complete with articles on alternative fuels, an “ask the editor” section, advertisements, games, activities and much more.

"I hope my magazine will get kids thinking about different energy resources," said Head. "That's what 'Watt's Up?' magazine is made for - to make a difference in the future of our world."

Daniel Jerke
South Dakota

This second-year president of an environmental club that collaborates with the community to produce exemplary recycling results wrote an essay documenting his leadership efforts. In the three-year history of the club, over 5,000 pounds of paper and 150 pounds of cans have been recycled.

"When I found out about the Challenge, I was inspired to increase my involvement (in the Environmental Club) and understand issues of the environment on a deeper level, " wrote Jerke in his project explanation.

Dennis O'Laughlin
Pennsylvania

Mr. O’Laughlin, a high school teacher at the Crawford County Area Vocational Technical School in the Crawford Central District of Meadville, Pennsylvania submitted several creative "energy themed" poster advertisements from his graphics design class students.

"It has been a very rewarding experience for me, as a teacher, to have my students become more aware of our resources and to see how motivated they were to communicate to the world their concerns about the wise use of energy," shared O'Laughlin.
