Linnea Rowley – 2003 Elementary School Grand Prize Winner

Elementary class grand prizewinner Linnea Rowley entered a musical composition. Her project, “ It Sounds Like Recycling to Me” included an original piano score, lyrics and a cassette tape recording of her performance of the song. She extended her project by constructing musical instruments made from recycling materials. The creations are a “string” bass, mini “scrap metal” cymbals, a PVC flute, a “scrap wood” xylophone, drums, shakers, and a “garden hose horn”.

Linnea writes, “Stewardship is the care of something that doesn’t necessarily belong to you …. Good care of the environment means you do the most possible good and the least possible bad.”
